Arkansas Green Party hosting online/offline candidate training 02-20 to 02-21

Great news from the Arkansas Green Party - they are hosting a two day candidate training school, hosted by Brent McMillan, National Political Director of the Green Party of the United States.

The campaign training will also be streamed live at

The Green Party is serious about running candidates for elected office. I was privileged to be a candidate for U.S. Senate in 2004, and support from a state party and national party is key.

The news that this event will be streamed over the internet is crucial - running for office is challenging, and takes quite a bit of specialized knowledge. This training can help potential candidates, campaign managers, party political operatives, and others, start to realize what it takes to make a campaign tick. It is not easy work, but it can be a lot of fund, and very rewarding.

Below is a tentative schedule of events. Greens, Independents, and all those curious about campaigning should tune in!

Maryland Green Party needs ballot petitioning help! Here's how you can get into the action:

The Maryland Green Party needs your help in gathering petition signatures so their candidates can get on the ballots.

Why get involved?

1. The Maryland Green Party accepts zero PAC, union, or corporate funding - they depend on individuals like you.
2. Maryland voters deserve better choices at the ballot box!
3. Important issues are being ignored by the two-corporate funded parties: jobs, health care, pollution.

SCOTUS: Not a friend of the voter

"Greens predict that the decision, which strikes down laws limiting the use of corporate money for campaign advertising, will have extremely damaging consequences for democratic elections and for the existence of the US as a republic. The Green Party accepts no corporate funding and advocates clean elections, free of the money and influence of corporations."

Corporations were magically made into people by the Supreme Court decades ago. Now, they have been given the right to make unlimited political expenditures. As if they did not have enough power already - from wealthy  CEO's, to corporate funded PACs, to trade associations (and their PAC's), to the 527 groups that are funded to shift public opinion to be in lock-step with major corporations.

This is why I support Move To Amend, which will end corporate personhood and its damaging effect on our political system. Corporations are not people, and do not have the right to political free speech that is reserved specifically for We The People.

Go to the site, educate yourself, sign the petition, and tell your friends!

MA: what really happened

The party of No defeated the party of Probably Not.

Note to Democrats: Barack Obama won because he is Barack Obama, not because he is a Democrat. Try running campaigns where you clearly express your values and consistently incorporate them into your message.

Voters respond to that.

If you fail to do that, you have NO chance of being elected.
